Bonnies Nab Liberty Transfer Dave Andoh

Mark Schmidt and the Bonnies have signed former Liberty forward Dave Andoh (6-7, 220 lbs). The forward will have one year of eligibility left remaining and will need to sit out this season before playing in 2016-2017.

At Liberty last season, Andoh averaged 10 points and 5.6 rebounds in 25 minutes per game. Andoh shot 77% from the line, 42% from the field and did not attempt a three pointer. He scored in double figures 18 times during his junior season at Liberty, his only one with the program. Andoh’s arrival should help the front line that is in need of assistance. With Ndoye and Chris Dees departure (as well as that of Xavier Smith) and the lack of development from Jordan Tyson, SBU was in desperate need of a veteran forward. While we cannot yet speak to Andoh’s talent level, we do know he’s played D1 basketball, has proven he can handle the rigorous of play and that’s enough for the Bonnies. It would have been great to see him play with Posley and Dion Wright but we’ll have to wait a full season to get him in the RC.

-It appears Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports had this first. We always give credit where it is due. Also, our good friend J.P. Butler had this earlier in the week in the OTH. Credit those guys for being on this faster than we were. You can read Mr. Butler’s fine article here. Butler’s article goes into more detail about Andoh’s history dating back to HS in Canada.

  1. Also, you got the most important part of the story incorrect: Andoh is not eligible this season. He will sit out the 2015-16 season. An accurate version of this story ran in Tuesday’s Olean Times Herald.

    • Thanks for the comment, we have edited the post accordingly. We did not hear of the OTH story as of last night. Thanks for passing it along as it helped clear things up for us.

    • Chris,
Thanks for reading, we had to edit the post to more accurately reflect the story so check it again. Also, Shane and I grew up in Bricktown and went to HS in Belmar, good to see another NJ Bonnie!
