Adams will apparently have surgery tomorrow on his finger and will be out for the rest of the season.

According to various sources freshman point guard Jay Adams will likely have surgery on a broken finger tomorrow and could be out for the rest of the regular season. It is possible Adams returns for the A10 tournament but it is not certain by any means. Adams is currently leading the A10 in assists and A/TO ratio in league play. He has won the A10 Rookie of the Week Award three times and likely would have/should be named to the All-Rookie Team at season’s end. (We hope our sources are wrong).

Adams is averaging 10.3 points, 4.5 assists per game while shooting 39% from the field and 32% from three.

Well, tonight’s loss was as bad as it gets. THIS hurts a billion times more. Alston is now the starting point guard and aside from the fact that he doesn’t shoot the ball at all and hardly plays, this won’t be a big deal (Alston has attempted 32 shots this season and made 10 of them. He is 1 for 5 from three point land and has 27 assists to 19 turnovers in his 151 minutes of play). Adams was having as good as freshman season as you’d ever hope for from a point guard and now this injury is a massive blow to the team. I really have no idea how they respond to this if these reports are true (I’ve heard this from three different people). Adams was a decent shooter, a good FT shooter and the teams best distributor. His loss is massive mostly because Alston just hasn’t shown he can be a starting point guard. Well, he’s about to get his chance and SBU is going to have to find a way to weather this storm to finish in the middle of the A10 pack now….wow. I was literally thinking today how lucky this team has been injury wise and now this….should have known better.

I hope that I am wrong about these reports and Adams plays on Saturday but I felt I had enough credible people tell me this same “rumor” that I should bring it to light for Bonnies fans. Again, here’s to hoping we dodge a bullet on this one and Jay is healthy enough to go the rest of the way.
