Help a fellow Bonnie this March
We received an e-mail from a fellow St. Bonaventure alum this morning asking the Bona Blog to help spread the word about a Bonnie in need.
“Our friend, Sean Spicer (class of ’99), is in need of a heart transplant and we are trying to get the word out!” Matt Kosty, also a ’99 grad, wrote.
You can help Sean and his family by joining the GoBonnies! NCAA Bracket Challenge pool. The buy in is $25 and the grand prize is $1,000.
There are two ways of joining the bracket pool:
- Donate directly to Sean’s page ($25 or more) and e-mail the proof of donation to [email protected]. You will then be sent an invite to the bracket pool.
- Donate via PayPal to [email protected]. When notification is received that you donated $25 or more, you will be sent an invite to the bracket pool.
Matt and others donated the grand prize money so 100% of donations will go to help Sean.
“For those who are reading this and don’t know Sean: He is a caring friend who would do anything for you, so we are going to do something for him,” Matt wrote. “Sean is awaiting a heart transplant. He has a serious condition that can only be fixed with a new heart. Heart transplants are very expensive and we’ve come up with a fun way to help make this procedure less burdensome on Sean and his family. For those who know Sean, you know how big his heart is – that’s why it is so surprising he needs a new one!”
By the way, you can also donate to a GoFundMe page to help Sean.
By Matt’s estimation, total donations have reached $6,000 in 24 hours.
“We know SBU fans are passionate about basketball and also passionate about helping others,” Matt wrote. “This is your chance to do both at the same time. Join us!”
